When is Pakistan Day?

Pakistan Day is a public holiday in Pakistan celebrated annually on 23rd March.

Pakistan Resolution Day or Pakistan Day commemorates the 'Lahore Resolution' of 1940, also known as the 'Pakistan National day' that eventually led to the creation of Pakistan.

This day is observed as a public holiday in all Provincial and federal government offices, banks, Schools and private sectors.



History of Pakistan Day

On 23rd March 1940, the Lahore Resolution was passed which rejected the concept of a United India and proposed the creation of an independent state for the Muslims, even though it did not actually mention the country of Pakistan at all.

The resolution paved the way for the creation of the country of Pakistan on 14th August 1947, when Pakistan became the 1st Islamic republic in the World. Thats why on August 14th is celebrated as a holiday - Independence Day.

To mark the resolution, the picture above thats called the Minar-e-Pakistan was constructed during the 1960s on the site in Iqbal Park where the All-India Muslim League passed the Lahore Resolution

How is Pakistan Day celebrated?

The Pakistan day is celebrated with early morning civilian and military parades in Islamabad (that is a capital of Pakistan and World's second beautifull Capital) with gun salutes. 

The national flag of the country is flown from all government buildings and departments. Several buildings, including the WAPDA House, Lahore Railway Station, and the Provincial Assembly building, are decorated with colourful bunting and lights to mark the national day.

During the Pakistan day, the President of Pakistan confers national awards and medals Presidency. Wreaths (Flowers) are also laid at the mausoleums of and Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Karachi and Muhammad Iqbal in Lahore.

To Celebrate the day the Pakistan Armed Forces usually hold a military parade. Contingents (in the shape of groups)of the Pakistan Army, Navy and Air Force participate in the parade. It is overseen by the President as well as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. 

And this Pakistan Day Parade is also known as National Day Joint Services Parade is a reflection of the urge for peace while displaying military might. From a display of the military might, the armed forces parade has turned out to be an event that unites the all nation. The parade reflects the nation’s determination on 1 hand while on the other it gives a beautifull message of unity and cohesion. Thousands of soldiers march in synchronized steps to give a beautifull message of discipline, unity and pride.

Government offices, post office, banks, educational institutions and businesses will be closed to celebrate Pakistan day 🇵🇰 .
