Woman Namely Marelbi Ruiz Lara Found Dead In Miami Beach Hotel Room

Cops have launched a homicide investigation after a 47 year old woman was found in a  dead form in a Miami Beach hotel that caters to flight crews – her room door was blocked by a mattress.

The victim, of this incident was identified by her relatives as Marelbi Ruiz Lara, was found Tuesday evening at the posh oceanfront Sherry Frontenac Hotel on Collins Avenue, It was reported by WPLG.

“MBPD received a call from a lady requesting a welfare check for her coworker, who was last seen Saturday, December 3, 2022” Cops spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez gave that information to the outlet in an email on Wednesday.

He told the Miami Herald that the death of woman is being investigated as a homicide and that “detectives are actively following several leads.”

Lara’s son, Nelson Tabares, from Colombia gave the Information to NBC Miami that his mother Lara worked in the area and had been staying in the hotel with her partner.

Further he said he became worried about her after not hearing from her for many days and called the hotel to ask staff to check on her in the 10th-floor room.

When the security staff of the Hotel tried to open the room door, they found it was blocked by a mattress.

“They used blunt force to go in,” Tabares told the station. “The workers of the hotel, after using force … they didn’t find belongings of the 2 people living there. They were Nervous and got scared.”

She was staying at the hotel with her boyfriend, that was working on a remodeling job in the building, reported by WPLG.

Until now the authorities haven't exposed details about a suspect, but Tabares believes the man who was her boyfriend  killed her and then took his own life in Sarasota, the NBC outlet said.

Authorities have not confirmed a link between the reported suicide and homicide on the side of I-75 on Tuesday in Sarasota, according to the report.

The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office removed the dead body of woman about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday and the reason of death remains under investigation.

It was told by a front desk clerk to WPLG that the hotel is not open to the general public, but is used exclusively by flight attendants and airline pilots.

The station said it learned that Victim was not an airline employee.

Authorities said there was no any kind of threat to the general public and locals but tourists and area residents expressed alarm at the incident.

“I think it’s a terrible thing, right here in the middle of the beach to have this kind of occurrence,” Alicia Darias told NBC Miami.

Desiree Arnold of Jacksonville said she saw a heavy police presence Tuesday night.

However it is a murder that is condemned.
